hydrophilic soft gel skin adhesives

The vast majority of adhesive wound dressings are based on either acrylic or silicone technology. As wound dressing designers, we had become frustrated by the lack of a viable third option, notably a gamma-stable low trauma adhesive.

This resulted in a development programme in which we took our hydrogel adhesives technology (used successfully for years in the form of other Medical Devices such as sealant patches for NPWT and Chest Seals) and developed a range of hydrophilic thin film adhesives. These adhesives have been geared specifically to the design and commercial constraints of the wound dressings market, but also have potential for use in general device fixation, including ostomy, dermatology and sensing devices.
